Use A Sponge

You can remove water in Minecraft by using sponges, if you have any. If you do not have it yet, try to defeat an elder guardian or look at Ocean Monuments.

Build walls in order to divide the body of water into smaller parts. Then, place a sponge in each part or on the wall. The sponge will absorb the water.

However, you have to take note that placing a sponge on the wall is less effective compared to place it in the water when it comes to getting rid of the water.

Use Gravity and Gravel

The next way to remove water in Minecraft is by using gravel and gravity. You can also use either sand or gravel as an alternative way to speed up the filling and removing part of the process.

First, make sure you have access to the area where you want to clear from water. So that you will be able to stand up above the surface of the water and fill it with gravel.

This is supposed to be easy because each time you place a block on the surface, it will sink until it is full. Repeat it for every block’s worth of water you want to get rid of.

Now, the remaining job you have to do is moving the columns that now are standing in place of the water. Dig into one of the corners of the water body and you will see 2 solid blocks that you can see underneath the lowest block of gravel.

Break the bottom block and replace it with a torch. Then, remove the last solid block and let the other blocks fall onto the torch. This is purposed to clear the sand or gravel. You need to repeat this process for every block that is previously filled with water.

Fill it Up and Burn It Down

If you find an impossible or unlikely source of water, you will likely involve a more difficult way to get rid of water. There are 2 methods for this that are basically ways to slim down the process.

And if you prefer to use the quickest method, the fire method is the one. So, fill the area where you want to clear the water with flammable materials. For example, woods, leaves, or wool. Make sure there is not any flammable material around the edges of the water area.

Once the area is already full, use a steel and flint to light up the flammable material you use. This will get rid of the material, leaving no trace of original water.

Those are some ways that you can try to get rid of water in Minecraft. You can choose one of the ways that you think is the easiest one. Which way do you want to try?
