Secrets of GAME DEVELOPMENT: Create your own *LAVA MAZE* GAME in Microsoft MakeCode Arcade

In this video, we show you how we created our own custom 🌋 *LAVA MAZE* GAME 🎮 in Microsoft MakeCode Arcade, which comes with a 2D game engine with sprites, platformer-style collisions, tile maps, particle systems, and more. With the retro 2D online game development environment, you could develop your game development and programming skills by quickly creating and modding retro arcade games 👾 with Blocks, Python 🐍, or JavaScript in the MakeCode editor.

First we make our player by drawing the player's image. With the sprite figure, we add code to move it with the controller arrow keys. Next, we create a tilemap that will serve as our maze. The tilemap 🗺️ contains tiles and a clear path from the start to the end so that the user can escape. Then, the camera is set to follow the player character as it moves around the screen. Events are added so that the game could determine if the player wins/loses when overlapped with the exit/lava tiles. This game was completed in about 30 minutes.
