How to Make a Powered Rail in Minecraft

Minecraft allows its players to create their own world as they wish. It is always fun to collect materials and craft many items, such as a powered trail.

If you have been playing this game already, you might already know that the speed of regular rails is not worth the effort you spend to build it in the first place.

Fortunately, you can create powered rails in order to boost your further. Imagine it, a powered rail is able to push your minecart up to 8 blocks per second.

It can also push you uphill if you place enough numbers of them. Here are the steps on how to make a powered rail in Minecraft.

Steps to Craft A Powered Rail in Survival Mode

Before you start to create a powered rail, you have to collect the required materials first. The materials you need to craft this item are 6 gold ingots, 1 stick, and 1 Redstone dust. You can find gold ingots below Y level 31.

You need at least an iron pickaxe in order to be able to mine the gold. Make sure you dig deeply to find it. You will immediately recognize the gold ingots by its yellow flakes.

For Redstone, you can find it below Y level 15. You can recognize it by its red specks and when you walk on it, it will glow. In order to make a stick, you need wood. Once you have collected all of the materials, it is time to craft a powered rail.

Open Your Crafting Table

First, open your crafting table that you can find in the crafting menu. The crafting table consists of a 3×3 grid.

Add the Materials

Next, you need to place the materials you have collected in the crafting area. In the first row, place one gold ingot in the first box and another gold ingot in the third box.

So, the second box is empty. In the second row, add one gold ingot in the first box, one stick in the second box, and one gold ingot in the third box.

Lastly, put one gold ingot in the first box, one Redstone in the second box, and another gold ingot in the third box of the third row.

Make sure you follow the order mentioned above. Because if you incorrectly place the materials, the powered rail will not be crafted. If you correctly follow the order, 6 powered rails will appear in the box on the right side of the crafting area.

Move the Powered Rail to Your Inventory

Once you have successfully created powered rails, do not forget to move it to your inventory so that you can use it for your needs.

How to Use A Powered Rail

As the name implies, powered rails need to be powered for you to be able to use it. If they are not powered, your minecart will stop. So, in order to power the powered rail, you need to place a Redstone torch next to the rail.

Or you can place a torch right under the block where the powered rail is on top of it. The torch will provide power to any adjacent rails up to 9 rails.

If you want to make it go quickly, make sure there is no bend because it will slow down your minecart. Moreover, place the powered rail on the entire track of your minecart to have the highest speed.
