How to Code PYTHON: Determine Data Types of Values - Perform Mathematical Operations on Numeric Data

Let’s get started! 🔥🔥🔥 In this video, we will show you how to write a few PYTHON 🐍 scripts to demonstrate several ways to evaluate a value to view, evaluate, and convert its data type when building real-world Python programs. There are several built-in functions and techniques you can use. In this lesson, you will learn some basics in less than 10 minutes! In this video, you will learn how to: ★ 0:18 Utilize the type() function to print the data type for various values. ★ 1:51 Use the isinstance() function to assert that you expect a value to be a certain data type. ★ 5:20 Create a Boolean expression using the type() function. ★ 8:10 Relationship between data types and variables. Tips and Tricks: ► Three common data types: str (string), int (integer, non-fractional), float (fractional) ► The float data type is for numeric values including a decimal point and containing fractional values after the decimal point. ► The type() function returns the data type of a specified value. ► The isinstance() function allows you to check to see whether a value is an instance of a specified data type. It returns a Boolean value (True or False). ► Do not use the type() function with the intent to check for equality because it might not give you the expected results in more complicated scenarios. ► Values have data types, and variables do not. A variable is merely pointed to a value, and it can point to any value of any data type. This is a key difference from other programming languages.
