Step 1

Step 1 is the first thing to do prior to doing anything else in the setup process. Absolutely, it requires you to turn off the printer by pressing the power button on the printer’s left side. Make sure you press the button and your printer is off.

Step 2

Look for the “Go” button situated on the printer’s top-left side and hold it down. Keep holding the button as you use it to turn on the printer back.

Locate the printer’s IP address on the printer’s settings document. This IP address can be found near the IP address list in the IP settings section.

Head to open a web browser on your computer. Fill the address bar with the printer’s IP address. Then, press “Enter”.

Step 8

The step 8 requires you to click Network Configuration to open a login window. Later, type “admin” into the field available for username and “access” into the Password field. Press “OK” button.

For the next step dealing with the wireless configuration, press “Configure Wireless” option that is on the bottom of the screen.

Step 9

In this step, you must change the option “Communication Mode” into “Infrastructure”. Later, press the gray “Browse” button near the “Wireless Network Name”.

Then, choose your wireless network available in the list and press “OK” button.

Step 10

Step 10 is the way you specify your encryption type required on the “Authentication Method” and “Encryption Method” drop down menu.

Make sure you type your password into the Passphrase section if you use WPA security. If you use WEP security, type your password into the WEP Key section.

Once you are done with this step, press the gray “Submit” button located at the bottom of your screen.

Step 11

The eleventh step of Brother HL-2170W Wireless setup includes the requirements to click on “Yes” on the pop up window to enable the wireless interface. Later, you must disconnect the network cable from the printer’s and router’s back part.

Wait at least for one minute to let the device refresh itself in case of wireless settings.

Step 12

Click on the “Go” button three times to print out the printer’s setting once more. Please check the Node Type listing. If it messages you “NC-7600w”, the wireless settings are working.

If not, you can alternatively choose another technique that is to press “Go” button and hold it for 20 seconds. This is aimed to enable the wireless interface. Finally, your wireless setup is all done.
